At Cornerstone Prep, we believe that every child was made in the image of a creative God — and that the arts are one of the most powerful ways they reflect His beauty, serving as a testimony to the world.
Whether it’s painting, drawing, learning to play the recorder in 4th grade, playing the ukulele in 5th grade, joining the worship team, or performing in musical theatre, we help students discover and develop the gifts God has placed within them. Moreover, we teach them to use those gifts with skill, joy, and purpose.
We do not see the arts as an add-on. They are essential to shaping whole people — students who can think deeply, feel rightly, and create boldly for God’s glory. A student who is encouraged to paint or conquer their fear of standing on stage in a theatre production can change the world!
In Scripture, when God wanted the Tabernacle built, He chose a man named Bezalel and “filled him with the Spirit of God, with skill, with intelligence, with knowledge, and with all craftsmanship…” (Exodus 31). It is a reminder that God’s Spirit enables creativity that is not just allowed — it’s anointed for important work.
That is the kind of mindset we strive to instill in our students. Because the goal is not performance; it’s praise to the One Who gave us breath.
Let everything that has breath praise the Lord. (Psalm 150:6)
At Cornerstone, the arts help students become people who recognize and reflect beauty, tell the truth, and offer their gifts back to the One who gave them.
